RESPONSIBLE INDIAN

Who is responsible for the incident which took place in Nirbaya's life?
As everyone thinks that people who are involved in the gangrape are only responsible. If it is the case , we are looking at only the smaller picture, we should try to focus on the the roots of the problem which led to this kind of incident. I have done some research on this issue. According to the National Crime Records Bureau 2013 annual report, 24,923 rape cases were reported across India in 2012. Out of 24,923 cases, Nirbaya's is one among those. There are many other cases which went unreported. But her incident alone sparked a big outraged and resulted in public agitation in 2012. I would say that all these incidents happen because of lack of education, lack of awareness and most importantly unequal opportunity provided to the wide strata of our society. Most of the heinous crimes are not commited by  well educated people but by someone who is from low income group or who are deprived of basic education. It is said that India's per capita income is 5350(US dollars). Does it mean on an average every Indian citizen earns that much money? No,not at all. These numbers shows the gap between the rich and the poor. It is said that India’s richest 10 per cent holds 370 times the share of wealth that it’s poorest hold. This shows how rich dominate poor. This figure shows how much is the poor people deprived of equal opportunities in our country .By saying this i am not accusing rich people alone. If this kind of situation prevails, I don't think any kind of heinous crimes be prevented. It will keep erupting until we find any concrete solutions for the upliftment of the poor.Without addressing this, no kind of juvenile bill will help solve the problem. Our elected representative should realise the need for the whole set of reforms.
This is our collective responsibility as a citizen of our country to share this shortcomings and resolve it. So, there is no point in blaming the people who are carved out of the society in which we are also a part of and which made them commit these crimes. We youths should raise our voice atleast now before it becomes too late.
Let us be the change that we want to see  in the world.
